Die Offenbarung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Aufschäumen eines Füllprodukts (P), das so in einen Behälter (2) abgefüllt ist, dass in einem Kopfraum (2a) des Behälters (2) eine gashaltige, vorzugsweise sauerstoffhaltige, Atmosphäre vorliegt, und eine Vorrichtung (1) zum Befüllen eines Behälters (2) mit einem Füllprodukt (P) und Verschließen des Behälters (2) mit einem Verschluss (3), vorzugsweise in einer Getränkeabfüllanlage. Das Verfahren weist auf: Einspritzen eines Aufschäummediums (M) in den Behälter (2), so dass das Füllprodukt (P) mit dem Aufschäummedium (M) beaufschlagt wird, wodurch Schaum (S) im Kopfraum (2a) des Behälters (2) erzeugt wird, der die Atmosphäre im Kopfraum (2a) vollständig oder teilweise aus dem Behälter (2) verdrängt. Das Verfahren ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Aufschäummedium (M) eine CO<sub>2</sub>-haltige Flüssigkeit ist.
