[origin: WO2020212118A1] The invention relates to a method for operating a cooking appliance (1), the cooking appliance (1) comprising: a cooking chamber (2), which has a heat source (3); and a control device (4). A user sets a cooking program (G) for a dish to be prepared by selecting a cooking component (K) from a cooking component list (L). The following steps are carried out in a suitable order: selection of a main component (HK) from the cooking component list (L) by the user; selection of a cooking parameter (P) for the main component (HK) by the user; deriving the temperature to be set and/or the cooking time as the cooking program (G) on the basis of the selections of the user by means of the control device (4), in order to achieve a predefined cooking result for the main component (HK); filtering the cooking component list (L) by means of the control device (4) on the basis of the derived cooking program (G), in order to propose at least one secondary component (N) that can be prepared by means of the cooking program (G) derived for the main component (HK); selection of at least one secondary component (N) from the filtered cooking component list (L) by the user and/or by the control device (4).
