Abstract (en)
Provided are a sheet recognition unit, a sheet handling device, and a sheet recognition method which can detect a security element having both an optical variable feature and a magnetic feature. The sheet recognition unit is for recognizing a sheet with a security element having an optical variable feature and a magnetic feature. The sheet recognition unit includes: an optical sensor configured to detect optical information of a sheet; a magnetic sensor configured to detect magnetic information of a sheet; and a determination unit configured to determine whether or not an optical variable feature and a magnetic feature are present in the same region of a sheet based on optical information of the sheet detected by the optical sensor and magnetic information of the sheet detected by the magnetic sensor.
