[origin: WO2021001103A1] The invention relates to a device (10) for attaching a table to a lateral wall (3) of a rail vehicle (1), having a table panel (11) and a support beam (13) which is arranged on the lower face (112) of the table panel (11) by means of a first and a second coupling position. The first coupling position forms a first rotational point (D1) and the second coupling position forms a second rotational point (D2) about each of which the table panel (11) can be rotated relative to the lateral wall (3). The device additionally comprises at least one energy absorption mechanism (14, 15) which is coupled to the support beam (13) in the region of the second coupling position such that in the event of a force (F1, F2) acting on the table panel (11) in the travel direction (F) of the rail vehicle (1), the rotational points (D1, D2) allow a specified rotation of the table panel (11) relative to the support beam (13), and the energy absorption mechanism (14, 15) allows a specified conversion of the kinetic energy of the table panel (11) on the basis of friction.
