Abstract (en)
A gas addition device (1600) for reoxygenation of a liquid blood product comprises an enclosure (103); one or more liquid chambers (101) having flow control features (108) configured to disrupt laminar flow; one or more gas addition chambers (134); one or more gas addition ports (128) in fluid communication with the one or more gas addition chambers; and at least one liquid inlet (104) and at least one liquid outlet (105) in fluid communication with the one or more liquid chambers. A gas addition chamber is separated from a liquid chamber by a gas permeable barrier (107) that is permeable to oxygen or both oxygen and carbon dioxide. A gas addition chamber may include flow control features (113) to ensure mixing and gas equilibration. A method for preparing an oxygenated blood product is also described.
