[origin: WO2020243758A1] The invention relates to an internal combustion engine comprising: an oil circuit, wherein the oil circuit is designed to supply at least one component of the internal combustion engine (1) with lubricating oil; and at least one oil reservoir (2) for the lubricating oil provided for the oil circuit; wherein: - at least one collection container (5) is provided which is separate from the at least one oil reservoir (2), wherein lubricating oil in the oil circuit can be collected downstream of the at least one component in the at least one collection container (5); and - at least one removal device (8) is provided, by means of which at least some of the lubricating oil collected in the at least one collection container (5) can be removed from the at least one oil circuit.
