Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2020249417A1] The invention relates to a method for operating a safety system (4, 30, 48), in particular a high-level safety system, of a rail vehicle (2, 28, 46) having an automatic protective reaction of at least one of a plurality of safety elements (6) of the safety system (4, 30, 48). The aim of the invention is that of achieving an improved method for operating such a safety system (4, 30, 48), in which the number of safety elements (6) is not limited. This aim is achieved in that, using a signal transmission system (10, 32, 50), signals are transmitted to a plurality of controllers (16), the signals are received by the controllers (16) and the safety elements (6) are controlled by the controllers (16) in accordance with the received signals. The aim is further achieved in that the controllers (16) are supplied with electrical energy independently of the signal transmission system (10, 32, 50).
