Abstract (en)
A thermal management system (1) for an electric vehicle, and electric vehicle comprising the system and a method. An energy storage system (3) of the vehicle is preferably operated between a minimum temperature (15) and a maximum temperature (16). The system comprises a heater (6) and a cooling unit (10) arranged to, respectively, heat and cool the energy storage system (3).The system comprises a control unit (9) arranged to control the heater (6) and the cooling unit (10) and to, when the heater (6) and the cooling unit (10) are powered by an external power source (26), receive (S1) data associated with the ambient temperature, control (S3) the heater (6) to heat, when the measured temperature is below the minimum temperature (15), the energy storage system (3) up to a temperature which is higher than the minimum temperature (15), and control (S4) the cooling unit (10) to cool, when the measured temperature is above the minimum temperature (15), the energy storage system (3) to the minimum temperature (15).
