[origin: WO2020259767A1] The invention relates to an apparatus (10) for a hospital or care bed (10) equipped with a mattress (24) and comprises: two shafts (32) which are positioned at opposite longitudinal sides of the bed and, relative to the mattress, are adjustable in height and rotatable; and a bed sheet (36) which has two opposite ends, is generally parallel to a flat upper surface of the mattress when in a lowered position between the two shafts, and, when in a raised position, sags and is raised from the mattress together with a patient (14) lying on the bed sheet. The bed sheet can be set in motion in order to transfer the patient between the shafts. One end of the bed sheet is wound up on a supply roll (38). The dimensions of the bed sheet between its two ends are several times the width of the mattress. By unwinding the bed sheet from the supply roll, a plurality of sheet changes is possible in which one soiled section of the bed sheet is replaced by an adjacent clean section on the upper surface of the mattress.
