[origin: WO2021005197A1] What is proposed is a cleaning apparatus (110) for cleaning items (112) to be cleaned that are received in at least one cleaning basket (114). The cleaning apparatus (110) comprises at least one cleaning chamber (116) and at least one application device (118) for applying at least one cleaning fluid to the items (112) to be cleaned in the cleaning chamber (116). The cleaning apparatus (110) has an inlet side (128) on a first side of the cleaning chamber (116) and an outlet side (132) on a second side, opposite to the first side, of the cleaning chamber (116). The cleaning apparatus (110) has a basket-guiding device (142) which has an input region (138), arranged on the inlet side (128), for placing the cleaning basket (114) on the basket-guiding device (142), and an outlet region (146), arranged on the outlet side (132), for removing the cleaning basket (114) from the basket-guiding device (142). The basket-guiding device (142) is designed to guide the cleaning basket (114) from the input region (138) into the cleaning chamber (116) and out of the cleaning chamber (116) to the outlet region (146). The cleaning apparatus (110) also has at least one basket return device (148) which is designed to guide the cleaning basket (114), independently of the basket-guiding device (142), from the outlet side (132) back in the direction of the inlet side (128).
