According to the invention, the method comprises at least the following steps: transporting a yarn end (5) counter to a predetermined spinning direction (S) into a yarn accumulator (6) of the spinneret (1) branching off from the guide channel (4), transporting an end portion (7) of the fibre strand (3) into the guide channel (4), and withdrawing the yarn end (5) from the yarn accumulator (6), the withdrawal of the yarn end (5) and the transport of the end portion (7) of the fibre strand (3) being matched in such a way that the yarn end (5) and the end portion (7) overlap and are moved together into the region of an inlet opening (8) of a yarn forming element (9) arranged inside the spinneret (1) and are connected to one another there by means of a turbulent air flow.
