[origin: WO2021008871A1] The invention relates to a method for operating a mobile terminal (22). A gesture recognition and control device (10) identifies a mobile terminal (22, S1) and determines (S2) a current graphical user interface that is generated by a display device (24) of the identified mobile terminal (22). The gesture recognition and control device (10) provides an output signal which, as the display content, describes (S3) the graphical user interface generated by the display device (24) of the identified mobile terminal (22), and transmits this signal to an output apparatus (18), which can be worn on the head, for outputting the display content in a predefined output region (32) in the interior of the motor vehicle (12, S4) as part of an augmented reality or virtual reality output by the output apparatus (18). When the display content is being output, the gesture recognition and control device (10): identifies a spatial gesture of the user (S7); on the basis of said gesture, generates a remote control signal for triggering an operating function (S12) of the mobile terminal (22, S10); and transmits said signal to a control device (26) of the identified mobile terminal (22, S11).
