[origin: CA3144808A1] The invention relates to a weapon system comprising a breechblock, formed at least by a breechblock carrier (5) and a breechblock head (3), wherein the breechblock carrier (5) is designed to support the breechblock head (3). In order to achieve a reduction or even an elimination of the forces acting on the breechblock drive during the unlocking of the breechblock and the removal of a cartridge casing, the breechblock head (4) is freely moveably relative to the breechblock carrier (3). In order to separate the breechblock and a breechblock drive of the weapon system during the recoil of the recoiling masses of the weapon system, a device (20) is designed in such a way that a mechanical separation can be produced between the breechblock and the breechblock drive with the recoil of the recoiling masses of the weapon system. With the forward motion of the recoiling masses, the mechanical connection between the breechblock drive and the breechblock is re-formed using the device (20). For the separating or connecting of the breechblock from/to a breechblock slider (6), which functionally cooperates with the breechblock carrier (5), the device (20) has at least one connection rod (23). The connection rod (23) is securely attached to the breechblock slider (6) by a rear end when viewed in the direction of fire.
