[origin: WO2021030084A1] A UE that is connected to a wireless communication system via a first base station utilizing a first RAT enters into an inactive state of a first protocol corresponding to the first RAT. The UE (re) selects a second base station utilizing a second RAT for resuming its connection with the system, transitions into an inactive state of a second protocol corresponding to the second RAT, and requests the second base station to resume the UE's system connection. The second base station obtains UE context information from the first base station, and transmits associated context/configuration information to the UE. Based on the received context/configuration information, the UE configures, enters into a connected state of the second protocol, and begins transmitting/receiving data to/from the system via the second base station. The second base station informs the first base station of the UE's resumed connection with the system via the second base station.
