Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren (2) zur Herstellung einer Batteriezelle (4), aufweisend einen Elektrodenstapel (6) mit einer Anzahl von ersten und zweiten Stromableitern (8, 10), welche in Lagen übereinander gestapelt angeordnet sind, bei welchem die ersten Stromableiter (8) zu einer gemeinsamen Kathode (62) und die zweiten Stromableiter (10) zu einer gemeinsamen Anode (64) schmelzfrei stoffschlüssig gefügt werden, wobei die ersten und zweiten Stromableiter (8, 10) mittels Heißpressschweißen zu der Kathode (62) und Anode (64) gefügt werden.
