[origin: GB2586062A] A solar heating system 1 has a lens array 3 which includes at least one lens assembly 9. The lens assembly has a supporting substrate 11 and a film 13 applied to a surface of the supporting substrate. At least one lens 9 is formed within the film, and a tubular receiver 5 which carries a fluid, is located at a focal point of the at least one lens. A frame 17,19 for supporting the lens array can pivot about a first axis (Z-Z) arranged coaxial with the tubular receiver and can move about a second axis arranged perpendicular to the tubular receiver. The lens array may be a Fresnel lens array, and the film may be a plastics material, such as Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). The arrangement produces steam and/or hot water in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
