[origin: WO2021023461A1] The invention relates to a method for masking surfaces (3) to be matted, having the following steps: providing a workpiece (1) having a surface (3) to be matted; masking at least one region (5), not to be matted, of the surface (3) with a first layer (S1) consisting of a first coating material; masking the same region (5), not to be matted, with a second layer (S2) consisting of a second coating material, wherein the first coating material is designed such that good detachability of the first layer (S1) from the surface (3) is produced, and wherein the second coating material is selected and applied such that high resistance of the second layer (S2) to a jet of abrasive material is achieved, said resistance being higher than the resistance of the first layer (S1). The invention also relates to a corresponding method for matting surfaces (3), which comprises such a method for masking surfaces to be matted.
