Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2021028101A1] The invention relates to a penetrator (10) for a projectile (1) comprising a tail assembly (3), wherein the penetrator (10) comprises at least one outer body (11), which acts in a terminal ballistic manner, for attacking an armoured target, in particular an armoured tank having reactive armour plating. Perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis (L) of the outer body (11), the cross-section of the outer body (11) is a hollow cross-section. The hollow cross-section of the outer body (11) comprises an area (A) and an area moment of inertia of the hollow cross-section is increased with respect to a filled cross-section that is at least equal in area, and therefore, on account of the increased area moment of inertia, the outer body (11) has increased flexural rigidity.
