The measuring system is characterized in that the measuring system is designed to correlate a first measured value with a first position coordinate of the measuring instrument which is arranged on the machine, wherein the measuring system is designed to assign, on the basis of the correlation of the first measured value with the first position coordinate, position coordinates to further measured values, acquired by the measuring instrument, solely by virtue of the fact that a movement speed and a direction of movement of the measuring instrument are known to the measuring system during or upon sensing of the measured values.
