[origin: WO2021038046A1] The present invention relates to a vaporizer (50; 150) for an electronic cigarette (1000), the vaporizer (50; 150) being fluidically connectable to a liquid store (20) and electrically connectable to a power supply unit (70) in an electronic cigarette (1000), the vaporizer (50; 150) comprising: at least one heating element (12-i) being connectable to the power supply unit (70), an absorbing structure (10; 110; 210; 310; 410) comprising at least one channel (13-i; 113-i; 313; 413) configured to receive liquid from the liquid store (20) and conduct the liquid to the at least one heating element (12-i), a pair of electrical contacts (14-1b, 14-1c; 214-1b, 214-1c) arranged about the sides of said at least one channel (13-i; 113-i; 313; 413), wherein the electrical contacts (14-1b, 14-1c; 214-1b, 214-1c) are connectable to an electrical control circuitry (60) when arranged in the electronic cigarette (1000) and wherein the electrical contacts (14-1b, 14-1c; 214-1b, 214-1c) are configured to establish a closed circuit and enable a power supply to the at least one heating element (12-i) only when liquid is present in the at least one channel (13-i).
