The present invention relates to a process for preparing a low molecular weight polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) micropowder, comprising the steps of:(a) polymerizing Tetrafluoroethylene (TFE); (b) coagulating the particles of PTFE to increase particle size; (c) washing the particles of PTFE to remove impurities; and (d) drying the wet PTFE micropowder to remove moisture and volatiles.
