[origin: WO2021063464A2] The present invention relates to a process for producing bacterial nanocellulose (BNC), the process comprising a) culturing in a liquid culturing medium Komagataeibacter rhaeticus, Gluconobacter oxydans, and at least one of Hanseniaspora uvarum, Brettanomyces bruxellensis, Zygosaccharomyces bailii and Kloeckera lindneri; and b) removing a hydrogel comprising BNC from the liquid medium, thereby providing bacterial nanocellulose (BNC). The invention also relates to obtained hydrogels, dried films, layers design and uses thereof.
