Die Schrumpfvorrichtung (1) umfasst mindestens eine untere Schrumpfmitteleinbringeinrichtung (15), die unterhalb einer Transportstrecke (6) für die mit Verpackungsmaterial (2) umhüllten Artikelzusammenstellungen (4) angeordnet ist. Über die untere Schrumpfmitteleinbringeinrichtung (15) wird Schrumpfmittel mit einer nach oben gerichteten Strömungsrichtung über die Transportstrecke (6) in den Innenraum (5) der Schrumpfvorrichtung (1) eingebracht. Die mindestens eine untere Schrumpfmitteleinbringeinrichtung (15) kann in unterschiedlichen Positionen unterhalb der Transportstrecke (6) angeordnet werden.
