[origin: WO2021094666A1] The invention relates to a generator (10a) of flashes of light, comprising: a discharge lamp (11) made up of a tube (14) into which xenon is incorporated, two discharge electrodes (12, 13), and an ionisation electrode (16); a discharging circuit (Cd) that is configured to form an electric arc discharge between the two discharge electrodes; an ionisation electrical circuit (Ci) that is configured to form at least one ionisation electric arc between the two discharge electrodes and to convert the xenon into plasma; a simmer supply circuit (Cs) configured to generate a current of constant magnitude in the discharge lamp and to sustain the plasma formed by the ionisation electric arc; and at least one magnetic-field generator (30) that is located outside the tube and configured to move the plasma substantially to the axis of revolution of the tube before the generation of at least one electric arc discharge.
