[origin: WO2021104725A1] The invention relates to an actuator for a side door of a motor vehicle. The actuator produces an automatic opening or closing of the side door on the basis of a signal, and the actuator has an electric motor that generates a torque, which acts on a hinge of the side door via a gearing mechanism, on the basis of an actuation. The actuator additionally has a system for holding the side door in any open position, wherein the system is produced by a function of the electric motor, which is designed to exhibit an increased detent torque in a de-energized state, said detent torque being configured to a value which is required for a holding torque in order to hold the door open. In this manner, the actuator is characterized by a particularly simple and inexpensive design.
