[origin: WO2021110902A1] The invention relates to a pipette tip family comprising pipette tips of differing tip types for use with pipettes of differing pipette types of a pipette family, • wherein each pipette tip comprises a tip cylinder, • and a tip piston, • wherein the tip cylinder has a tubular body having a tip opening on the bottom end, an attachment opening on the top end, a seat region on the inner circumference for clamping on a clamping region of a journal of a pipette and a cylindrical piston running region between the tip opening and the seat region, • and the tip piston has a piston which is guided in a sealing manner in the piston running region and a piston rod which protrudes upward for clamping in an axial bore having a hole on the bottom end of a lifting rod of a pipette, • wherein pipette tips of the same sub-family are pipette tips of the same tip type or pipette tips of differing tip types, wherein the upper ends of the piston rods, in the lowest position of the tip piston in each case, have the same positions in respect of the seat region, • and pipette tips of differing sub-families have the upper ends of the piston rods, in the lowest position of the tip piston in each case, at different positions in respect of the seat region, • such that the pipette tips of each sub-family can be used for pipetting with pipettes of a pipette type matched thereto and not with pipettes of a pipette type of the pipette family not matched thereto.
