[origin: WO2021116308A1] A self-extinguishing cross laminated timber (CLT) element comprising a plurality of lamellae arranged to form the CLT element, each lamella (11) comprises a plurality of boards arranged side by side to form one lamella, wherein at least one lamella of the plurality of lamellae comprises a plurality of boards, each board having a rectangular shape cross-section with a short side (B) and a long side (A). Each board having its wide face(s) with the long side bonded to the wide face of adjacent board such that during an enclosure fire the plurality of boards of the at least one lamella char seamlessly across a thickness (L) of the at least one lamella, and where the thickness (L) equals a length of the long side (A).
