The in-vehicle display device includes a calculator configured to calculate a distance from the vehicle to an object; an image generator configured to generate a first image to attract attention to the object by using a character string alone or by using the character string and a graphic, in response to the distance calculated by the calculator being a predetermined first threshold value or less, or generate a second image to attract attention to the object by using the graphic alone, in response to the distance calculated by the calculator being greater than the first threshold value; and a display unit configured to display the first image or the second image, the first image or the second image being generated by the image generator using a display device.
