[origin: WO2021144212A1] The invention relates to a method for producing a polycarbonate from a diphenol and a diaryl carbonate according to the melt transesterification method. The diaryl carbonate is obtained by reacting a monophenol with a carbonyl halide. The method according to the invention is characterised in that an increased proportion of the diaryl carbonate not reacted in the reaction with the diphenol compared to the prior art is recovered and returned to the method, and thus a reduced proportion of the diaryl carbonate not reacted in the reaction with the diphenol, compared to the prior art, is returned for disposal.
