[origin: WO2021160576A1] The invention relates to a method and a system for remotely monitoring a medical device which is used to medically monitor or treat a specified patient, in particular in a closed patient treatment area, in particular from outside of the patient treatment area. The method has the steps of: detecting a machine-readable patient identifier, which is assigned to the patient, using a sensor; initiating a link between the medical device and the terminal so as to transmit data on the basis of the detected patient identifier in order to establish a wireless communication connection for exchanging data assigned to the patient identifier between the medical device and the terminal; receiving, via the established communication connection, information which is transmitted by the medical device to the terminal and which relates to the patient identified by the patient identifier or to the monitoring process or treatment of the patient by means of the medical device; and outputting a representation of the received information on a human-machine interface of the terminal. The invention additionally relates to a computer program configured to carry out the method and to a correspondingly designed terminal as part of the system.
