[origin: WO2021165592A1] The invention relates to a device and to a method for controlling the starting of an engine of a vehicle and comprises authenticating an identifier received from an authentication device (105). A relay (102) configured so as to supply electricity to at least one portion of an electrical system of the vehicle is then controlled on the basis of the result of the authentication, the portion of the electrical system whose supply of electric power is controlled via the relay (102) comprising a circuit for supplying power to the starter (101) of the vehicle. The vehicle advantageously comprises a starting means (100) comprising a starter contactor and a contact key, the contact key being inserted irremovably into the contactor such that rotation of the key leads to actuation of the starter in order to start the engine.
