[origin: WO2021165585A1] The outer casing of the modular stove guard unit (103, 301, 402) encloses electronic components (1202, 1205) to cause the stove guard unit to carry out stove guard operations. The outer casing defines at least a mechanical connection (407) to a host device to allow the stove guard unit to be at least mechanically connected to form part of the environment where the stove (101) is used, such as such as to a cooker fan or hood located above the stove or in immediate proximity thereof. The outer casing defines a power input connection (304, 408) to allow the stove guard unit (103, 301, 402) to receive operating power through the host device (401), and/or the stove guard unit (103, 301, 402) comprises a location (306) for an internal operating-power source, such as one or more accumulators or batteries.
