[origin: WO2021176056A1] A grab monitoring device (2), which is configured to be mounted on a mechanical grab (1) for tracking movements of the grab, which comprises: • - at least one motion sensor (3), which is adapted to be mounted on the grab and which is configured to provide motion sensor signals that are representative for motions of the grab, • - a transmitter device (4), which is configured to transmit a signal from the grab monitoring device to a remote receiver (90, 91), and • - a control unit (5), which is operatively connected to the motion sensor and the transmitter device, wherein the control unit is configured to deduct movement cycles of the grab on the basis of the motion sensor signals and configured to output a movement cycle signal on the basis of the deducted movement cycles, and wherein the transmitter device is configured to transmit the movement cycle signal to the remote receiver.
