Abstract (en)

An aerosol-generation system for a smoking article comprises a heat generation segment including an insulation layer of flame-retardant material and an aerosol-generating segment including a tobacco substrate and incorporating aerosol-forming material, the tobacco substrate being disposed within a substrate cavity, in which the tobacco substrate is dimensioned to fit within the substrate cavity. The system also comprises a wrapping material circumscribing at least a portion of the heat generation segment and the aerosol-generating segment. The wrapping material comprises a foil strip circumferentially encompassing and extending lengthwise along at least a lengthwise portion of the substrate cavity and overlapping at least a lengthwise portion of the heat generation segment. The wrapping material also comprises a paper material, and the foil strip is laminated to a surface of the paper material, registered for alignment with the substrate cavity at a predetermined location.
