Abstract (en)

A gas appliance (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) comprises a combustion device (10, 26), an ignitor (12), a gas valve (14, 30), a blower (16, 32), a detecting device (34), and a control device (20, 36). A control method thereof comprises: the control device (20, 36) is operated in a detection mode in which the control device (20, 36) controls the ignitor (12) to ignite and controls the gas valve (14, 30) as well as the blower (16, 32) to provide a fixed gas flow and a fixed air flow to the combustion device (10, 26). After igniting the flames, the control device (20, 36) determines burning states detected by the detecting device (34); if matching a first state, the control device (20, 36) controls the gas valve (14, 30) and the blower (16, 32) in correspondence to a first control data of the first natural gas; if matching the second state, the control device (20, 36) controls the gas valve (14, 30) and the blower (16, 32) in correspondence to a second control data of the second natural gas. In this way, the gas appliance (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) is suitable for natural gas with various heating values.
