[origin: WO2021180510A1] A method for forming a guide structure (5) in an elevator shaft (1) is described. The guide structure (5) is configured to guide an elevator car while it travels vertically in the elevator shaft (1). The method comprises the following steps: moving a tool (7), for example a milling tool, vertically along the elevator shaft (1), wherein the tool (7) is positioned precisely in terms of its horizontal position within the elevator shaft (1), and forming the guide structure (5) by removing material from a shaft wall (3) of the elevator shaft (1) by means of the tool (7).
