[origin: EP4123337A1] This application provides a target detection method and apparatus, and relates to the field of automatic driving, to improve accuracy of determining that targets detected by different sensors are a same target. The method includes: determining an overlapping region between a first target region and a second target region, where the first target region is determined based on a detection error of a first sensor and a location of a first target detected by the first sensor, the second target region is determined based on a detection error of a second sensor and a location of a second target detected by the second sensor; calculating an overlapping degree of the overlapping region in a union set of the first target region and the second target region; and when the overlapping degree is greater than or equal to a first threshold, determining, based on a relationship between a first region and each of the location of the first target and the location of the second target and/or based on a relationship between a second threshold and a distance between the location of the first target and the location of the second target, a confidence level that the first target and the second target are a same target is a target confidence level.
