[origin: WO2021190965A1] The invention relates to a passenger-transportation installation (1) in the form of an escalator or a moving walkway, comprising: - a stationary access region (3); - a transport belt (5) composed of a plurality of step units (15) arranged one behind the other along a movement direction (13), which transport belt (5) can be circulatingly moved relative to the stationary access region (3); - a transition region (37), in which meshing structures (35) of the movable transport belt (5) adjoin static comb structures (29) of the access region (3); - an illuminating device (7) having at least one light source (39) for emitting light in the visible spectrum, the illuminating device (7) being configured such that at least a first portion of the light emitted by the at least one light source (39) is focused such that said light illuminates mainly an elongate transition area (41), which encompasses the transition region (37) including the comb structures (29) and including the structures (35) of the transport belt (5) which mesh with the comb structures in the region of the comb structures (29), the transition area (41) extending along a total exposed width (B) of the transport belt (5) transversely to a direction of longitudinal extension of the passenger-transportation installation (1).
