[origin: WO2022262955A1] The invention relates to a hydroentangled nonwoven fabric for producing a segment for a smoking article, said hydroentangled nonwoven fabric being in the form of a web and containing at least 50% and at most 100% cellulose fibres, in each case based on the mass of the hydroentangled nonwoven fabric, said hydroentangled nonwoven fabric having a weight per unit area of at least 15 g/m2 and at most 60 g/m2, the hydroentangled nonwoven fabric having a machine direction and a transverse direction orthogonal thereto in the plane of the web of the hydroentangled nonwoven fabric, and the hydroentangled nonwoven fabric having a characteristic plastic deformability in the transverse direction which is characterised in that, in a tensile test in the transverse direction according to ISO 1924-2:2008, the non-linear portion of the deformation energy absorbed by the hydroentangled nonwoven fabric up to half the elongation at break is at least 10% and at most 50% of the total deformation energy absorbed by the hydroentangled nonwoven fabric up to half the elongation at break.
