[origin: WO2021219356A1] The invention relates to a method for retrofitting a thermal treatment facility, having at least the following steps: a) dividing a continuous furnace (2) into a first furnace (3) and a second furnace (4), b) arranging a temperature control station (5) in the thermal treatment facility (1), wherein the temperature control station (5) is arranged downstream of the first furnace (3) and upstream of the second furnace (4), and the temperature control station (5) is additionally provided for and designed to set a temperature difference between at least one first sub-region and at least one second sub-region of a metal component (6) to be treated, and c) adapting the operating mode of the thermal treatment facility (1). The invention is used in particular for retrofitting existing press hardening lines in which a press hardening tool is arranged downstream of a continuous furnace, in particular a roller hearth furnace. The retrofitted thermal treatment line advantageously allows a partial thermal treatment of metal components as required.
