Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2021219249A1] The invention relates to a method for testing a substrate, preferably a substrate for a value document or a substrate of a value document, with a specified luminescent substance which is introduced and/or applied in a planar manner. A substrate luminescence characteristic is ascertained for the substrate. For this purpose, a number N of luminescence intensity values are detected at different respective locations on the value document, and the substrate luminescence characteristic is ascertained on the basis of the rank order of the luminescence intensity values. Preferably, a test can be carried out to determine whether the substrate luminescence characteristic satisfies a specified criterion.
