Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2594943A] A plumbing fixture sanitising system 100 including a supply pipe 42 with an electrochemical cell 10 to produce ozone from electrolysis of water, the supply pipe supplying a cistern 40 which in turn supplies water to a plumbing fixture e.g. urinals 20. Also claimed is a method of sanitizing a plumbing fixture using ozonated water having a concentration of 0.7ppm. The use of a cistern which fills relatively slowly allows a relatively high concentration of ozone compared to the use of an electrochemical cell in the faster flowing flushing conduits (i.e. after a cistern). The system may include a controller to operate valves and the electrochemical cell, comprising a sensor for detecting the presence of a person, wherein the controller may operate the system, for set periods and/or with time delays based on detection of a user to ensure fresh ozonated water is produced when the fixture is used. The system may create ozonated water having a concentration of 1.1ppm or more.
