In order to provide a transport vehicle of this type which is improved in respect of load securing, according to the invention the transport vehicle (1) has a retaining apparatus (3) for securing the load on the transport vehicle (1), the activation of which is forcibly coupled to the lifting movement of the lifting apparatus (2). The retaining apparatus has a locking fork (5) which can be moved from a retracted parked position to an extended locked position and, in the extended position, encompasses a traverse (7) attached to the payload or to a separate payload carrier (6) on at least two opposite sides, thus positively securing it.
