[origin: WO2022022810A1] The invention relates to a method for populating circuit boards (120) by means of a quantity of required component types (165, 170) on an assembly line (110), wherein different fixedly assigned components (165) can be attached on the assembly line (110), wherein the method comprises the following steps: a) acquiring an amount of circuit board types; b) acquiring a number of circuit board types (122) assigned to the assembly line; c) acquiring an amount of component types of all circuit board types to be populated within the planning horizon with the amount of space they take up on tracks of the shuttle table unit; d) acquiring an amount of fixedly assigned component clusters of the assembly line; e) acquiring circuit board types (122) assigned to a fixedly assigned component cluster (210); f) determining the space taken up on tracks by the component types assigned to a fixedly assigned component cluster; g) determining available space on free tracks, which can be used for other component types from the amount (c), which are intended and/or have been made available for populating circuit boards on one or more other assembly lines of the production system; h) determining an optimum reassignment of component types to the free tracks, such that an advantageous amount of additional circuit boards can be populated on this assembly line, whose populating had been planned on one or more other assembly lines; and i) populating the circuit boards (120) on the assembly line (110) by means of the fixedly assigned components (165) and by means of the optimum reassignment.
