[origin: WO2021244999A1] The present invention relates to a method for adapting a pressure (p) of a hydraulic pump (2) of a traction drive (1), wherein the traction drive is equipped with the hydraulic pump (2) for the purposes of supplying pressure medium to a hydraulic motor (78), which is couplable to an output (80), of the traction drive (1), wherein the pressure (p) generated by the hydraulic pump (2) is controllable through manipulation of an actuation pressure (pa, pb), wherein the method comprises the following steps: a. calculating a maximum admissible actuation pressure (pamax, pbmax) taking into consideration a swept volume (VP) of the hydraulic pump (2) or a variable (αP) representing said swept volume (VP), the rotational speed (nP) of the hydraulic pump (2) and a maximum admissible pressure (pmax) of the hydraulic pump (2); b. detecting the presently generated pressure (p) of the hydraulic pump (2); c. comparing the presently generated pressure (p) of the hydraulic pump (2) with the maximum admissible pressure (pmax); and d. adapting the maximum admissible actuation pressure (pamax, pbmax) taking into consideration the difference between the present pressure (p) of the hydraulic pump (2) and the maximum admissible pressure (pmax) by correcting a learning factor, which is a parameter of a pump characteristic or of a pump characteristic curve or of a calculation rule.
