[origin: WO2021259631A1] The invention relates to a method for operating a domestic refrigerator (1) having at least one refrigerated cabinet (9), to which a frost-free evaporator (9), which can be cooled under control, and a fan (10), which can be driven independently therefrom, are assigned and which is separated from a freezer compartment (2) by a partition (6), wherein the method comprises an evaporator cooling phase to cool the frost-free evaporator (9), in which phase the fan (10) is switched off. A domestic refrigerator (1) comprises at least one refrigerated cabinet (9), to which a frost-free evaporator (9) and a fan (10) are assigned, and a control device (8), which is designed to cool the frost-free evaporator (9) and to operate the fan (10), wherein the control device (8) is further configured to run an evaporator cooling phase for cooling the frost-free evaporator (9) when the fan (10) is switched off. Particularly advantageously applicable to side-by-side refrigerators.
