[origin: WO2022010357A1] The disclosure relates to a gate valve comprising a valve body (9) having a flow path extending therethrough; a collapsible gate member (1) configurable between an open position and a closed position, wherein in the open position the gate member (1) has a collapsed configuration and permits fluid flow through the flow path and in the closed position the gate member (1) has an extended position and is at least partially positioned in the flow path and restricts fluid flow through the flow path. The disclosure further relates to a method for operating a gate valve.
