[origin: WO2022006684A1] This disclosure pertains to a new medical therapy, using acoustics, for post-operative constipation, CIC, IBS and other conditions of reduced colonic transit. Acoustic waves are propagated to the intestines at between 20-60Hz, an intensity based on the patient being treated and a patterned waveform. The acoustic waves help in dislodging blockage in the intestines and in re-establishing normal bowel functions. Furthermore, this disclosure describes an acoustic device with a specially shaped applicator for the abdomen, which increases the coupling efficiency with the abdomen.
