[origin: WO2022023644A1] The invention relates to a rheostat (1) comprising at least one electrical input (8) and one electrical output (10), the rheostat (1) comprising at least a first resistance tube (4a) and a second resistance tube (4b) which are electrically arranged in series relative to each other and each having a moving slider thereon (6, 6a, 6b), a first switch (20a) and a second switch (20b) being arranged between each of the sliders (6, 6a, 6b) of the first resistance tube (4a) and the second resistance tube (4b), respectively, and the electrical output (10), the rheostat (1) comprising an inter-tube connection point (16) which is arranged between a start (14) of the second resistance tube (4b) and an end (12) of the first resistance tube (4a), and is configured to allow the sliders (6) to come into contact with each other at the inter-tube connection point (16).
