[origin: WO2022029239A1] The device (10) for displaying information, in particular for a vehicle, is furnished with a display unit (12), which has a plurality of pixels and which has a front side (16), which forms the display surface (18) for displaying information, and a rear side (22), which faces away from the front side (16). The device further has a back-lighting unit (20) for emitting backlight toward the rear side (22) of the display unit (12) for back-lighting same and an adjustable transflective layer (24) between the back-lighting unit (20) and the display unit (12). The adjustable transflective layer (24) has an array of segments (28), each of which is controllable by means of an electrical control signal to adjust the degree of transmission and/or reflection and thus dimmable. The contrast of information shown on the display surface (18) can be adjusted by dimming, as a result of controlling the segments, those pixels of the display unit (12) which are arranged in alignment with the segment or segments (28) concerned and are assigned to same.
